The event takes place in a public hospital. At this moment the nurse and the doctor have checked up the patient. The doctor has diagnosed that the patient suffers a cancer disease. Thus, the doctor has the nurse tell the patient’s family about the current condition of the patient and the medical action that is recommended. The nurse goes outside to meet the patient’s family.
Nurse : Excuse me, are you the patient’s family?
Patient’s family : Yes, I am her mother, is she all right?
Nurse : There is a condition that I should tell you about your child.
Patient’s family : Yes, what is it?
Nurse : The doctor has done checking up your child and the diagnosis shows that your child suffers a cancer.
Patient’s family : Oh my God, what should I do?
Nurse : Don’t worry madam, the cancer is still in low stage.
Patient’s family : is there any medical action that can help my child?
Nurse : Yes it is, the only way to prevent the cancer spread around your child’s body is by doing surgery.
Patient’s family : When should it be done?
Nurse : We recommend that the surgery must be done as soon as possible before the cancer’s spread, the sooner the better. Because if the cancer has spread around the body, the treatment would be harder and the possibilities of recovery would be small.
Patient’s family : Can the surgery guarantee that my child will be health as before?
Nurse : Actually we cannot guarantee 100% percent of your child’s health but by doing surgery, it can give your child bigger possibilities of recovery from the cancer disease. Because some experiences show that patients who suffer cancer could be healed through surgery, especially the low stage cancer.
Patient’s family : So, it seems that there is no other choice.
Nurse : We always give the best for the patient, and if there is other way rather than surgery that better for your child, we will recommend you, but for now surgery is the best option. We highly recommend it. So now we need your approval whether the surgery will be conducted or not, the choice is yours madam.
Patient’s family : It is a very hard choice for me, but considering the best for my child’s health I will follow your recommendation if it can help my child. Please take care my child.
Nurse : I will madam, we will do our best.
Patient’s family : From now, I leave my child on your hand.
Nurse : We will give what we can do but at last God decides, so all you can do is to give your trust to us and pray to God. First of all, I would like you to go to front office to fill some forms and do the administration.
Patient’s family : All right, but beforehand my I meet my child first?
Nurse : Of course you may.
Patient’s family : Does she already know about this situation?
Nurse : Yes she does. Individually and physically, she is ready for the surgery but I advise that the support from her close friends or families is very important for her morale which indirectly affects the success of the surgery. So we hope that you should give your support to her and never let her down and everything is going to be all right.
Patient’s family : I think so, I will try to convince her that everything will be ok, and there is no reason to worry about.
Nurse : Thank you madam, if it goes as what we have planned everything will be fine Please take care yourself too. Let’s just focus for the surgery now, about the cost and other thing, let’s discuss it later.
Patient’s family : Thank you for your understanding.
Nurse : You are welcome. Please take your time to meet your child and if you need something just come to see me.
Patient’s family : All right thanks again.
Nurse : Ok, if you finish with your child please come to the front office to administer your child, now I will take my excuse.
